"Sundaes on Sunday"
Sunday, September 8, 2024
On Sunday, September 8, St. Mark’s joined with ELCA congregations all over the US in a day of service to our neighbors.
This year’s project was visiting with and hosting an ice cream social for residents of GlenFlora, a local facility affiliated with Lutheran Services Carolinas which provides skilled nursing, in-patient and out-patient rehabilitation, and assisted living to about 50 residents.
Longer term, St. Mark’s is working to partner with the Robeson County Church and Community Center and Robeson County Disaster Recovery Coalition to support their ministries in the community.
“God’s Work. Our Hands.” Sunday began in 2013 in connection with the ELCA’s 25th anniversary. It continues to be an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the ELCA — one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. This year we also celebrate 50 years of ELCA World Hunger.
